Reporting to Manager, Environment and Climate, the Tree Planting Project Technician will support tree planting projects on Town-owned land, including along road rights-of-way and in parks. This position is primarily a field position with some office work. The Tree Planting Technician will bring their technical tree and environmental knowledge to identify and map potential tree planting locations, support tree planting contract management, conduct tree inventory data collection, and manage/analyze related spatial data. The Technician will also play a key role in engaging with the public, businesses, and community groups to collaborate on tree planting initiatives, increase awareness of the benefits of trees, and share information on how the community can plant, care for, and protect trees. As needed, the Technician will support other environmental projects to help advance the Town’s vision as a nature-rich community and support implementation of the Town’s Strategic Plan.
