Based in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Algoma has a proud history as a leading manufacturer of hot and cold rolled steel sheet and plate products. We are Canada’s only discrete plate producer and one of the lowest-cost producers of hot-rolled sheet steel in North America owing in part to our state-of-the-art Direct Strip Production Complex. Our steel is used in construction, mining, manufacturing, automotive, shipbuilding, and energy sectors including renewable energy and military applications. The Role

The Plate Sales Director will drive the strategic direction and performance of sales initiatives within the North American steel plate market. This position is critical for achieving revenue goals, expanding market share, and fostering long-term relationships with strategic customers. The Sales Director will leverage industry expertise and market insights to develop innovative sales strategies, lead a high-performing team, and ensure that the organization meets the evolving needs of our customers.

Core Competencies and Skills Required

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g. Sciences, Engineering, Business).
  • 3-5 years in Sales Management, including people management, budgeting, planning, forecasting, and decision-making.
  • Previous Plate Sales/Market experience preferred.
  • Excellent relationship-management skills including selling, negotiating, and closing deals.
  • Strong complex problem-solving, communication and analytical skills.
  • Willingness to travel moderately within North America.

This is an exempt (non-union) position.
