As many shoppers have discovered, buying Canadian is not always as simple as it sounds.

Made in Canada? Product of Canada? Read those labels carefully.

Here's another thing to watch out for: "maple-washing."

As businesses rush to tap into our Trump-inspired national pride, some are overstating their ties to Canada in order to win over customers.
