The Sault Ste. Marie and Area Drug Strategy would like to send our heartfelt well wishes to our community during this rapidly changing and stressful time. The following is a list of supports available to those struggling with substance misuse in Sault Ste. Marie and Area at this time. Please note that as the global situation changes, so may this information.

This is up to date as of April 16, 2020 and is subject to change. At the end of this letter, we have provided links to some online resources that can provide some motivation and support in this time of social distancing.

Rapid Access Addiction Medicine Clinic (RAAM) - Accepting referrals through health care providers or telephone intake for self-referrals. Please call 705-759-3434 ext. 7200 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. Clinic hours are currently 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

Maamwesying North Shore Community Health Services Inc. - Accepting referrals. Please call 1-844-864-0523 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. Clinic hours are currently Monday to Friday 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Withdrawal Management Services - Call 705-759-3434 ext. 4147 - 24 hours a day

Addiction Treatment Clinic (ATC) - Accepting self-referrals by telephone from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 705-759-6684. All sessions are being completed on the telephone at this time.

Algoma Public Health - Addiction Assessment, Counselling and Housing Services: Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Open for referral. At this time, all services provided by phone or electronic means. For services, please contact 705-942-4646, ext. 3148.

Needle Exchange/Harm Reduction - 1 to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday at 386 Queen St. or drop in to Algoma Public Health at 294 Willow from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Algoma Family Services - Alternatives for Youth - The office is currently closed, however telephone and/or video conference is still available. Please call 705-945-5050 or 1-800-461-2237.

Ontario Aboriginal HIV AIDS Strategy (OAHAS) - Providing outreach services once weekly and available by phone at 1-800-743-8851 ext. 118 and 113

Canadian Mental Health Association – Central Access information and referral program will continue to receive calls which will be answered Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Call 705-759-5989, 1-855-366-1466 or email information@cmhassm.com

Women in Crisis - Crisis line is open 24/7 to speak to a counselor. No walk-in appointments available at this time.

Food Assistance:  

  • The Soup Kitchen (172 James Street) is providing bagged lunches at the front door Monday to Friday 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 
  • Phoenix Rising is providing curb side (at the door) pick up of Little Caesars Pizza and Tim Hortons bagels and muffins every Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. 
  • Club 84/Hope House is currently closed, but is offering registered members of the program an opportunity to pick up pre-ordered meals Monday to Friday between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. Meals for registered members can be ordered by calling 705-942-9561.

  • Wellness Together Canada is a new site from the Government of Canada that offers support to those coping with Mental Health and Addiction Issues
