Algoma Public Health confirmed six new COVID-19 cases in the Algoma region on Wednesday evening.
All six individuals were tested on Monday and fall under the exposure category of close contact, meaning the person was infected through close contact with a known confirmed case.
Of the new cases, four are from the Sault Ste. Marie area while two are from central and east Algoma.
All six people are currently self-isolating.
Regions in Algoma that have had reported COVID-19 cases in the past 14 days include:
- Central and east Algoma
- Sault Ste. Marie and area
- Elliot Lake and area
Including the new cases, there are currently 30 active cases in the region.
