Good morning, Sault Ste. Marie!

Pigeons in Jamestown don't seem to mind what appears to be an early start to winter. Darren Taylor/SooToday

SooToday meteorologist Jerry Shields says there will be near 25mm of heavy rain all day with showers continuing this evening except for areas north of the city where we are likely to see a mix of snow and rain.

Daytime highs will be near 3C, says Shields. "With temperatures that close to freezing, I wouldn't be surprised to see some wet flurries mixed with the rain from time to time."

Southerly winds shift to the northwest in the evening to usher in colder air then lingering showers will turn into flurries overnight as temperatures rapidly drop below freezing.
