VIDEO: We asked the Prime Minister what he thinks of all those 'F--- Trudeau' signs

'When you see an 'F Trudeau' flag, people don’t think about it but I do. That’s my daughter’s last name on that flag. That’s the last name that my two sons will carry throughout their lives'

Yes, the Prime Minister sees all those signs and bumper stickers bearing his name. And when he does, he says he thinks about how they impact his three children.

Justin Trudeau was a guest on this week’s episode of our Inside the Village podcast, where he spent more than 30 minutes answering a wide range of questions about his political future, his dismal polling numbers, and his determination to stay on as Liberal leader in the face of a caucus revolt.

In one candid moment, we asked the Prime Minister about the “F— Trudeau” signs that have become a common sight in recent years.

“When you see an 'F Trudeau' flag, people don’t think about it but I do,” he replied. “That’s my daughter’s last name on that flag. That’s the last name that my two sons will carry throughout their lives. It’s hard for me to think about how to make them understand that it’s all part of the sacrifice and service that we’re choosing to do. That the good things we’re doing — making this world a better place, even if it means I’m skipping their basketball games or not there at the dance recitals or whatever — that it does matter.”

Trudeau said although “there are a few people who are very angry out there,” he doesn’t believe they are the majority.

“Most Canadians are decent and thoughtful and just trying to make their way through in this country the best way we can,” he said. “The things that we are actually doing as a government — the things that I’m focused on delivering for Canadians, to help with affordability, to grow a strong economy for the future — really, really do matter more than a bumper sticker or a cheap slogan shouted out across the floor in the House of Commons.”
