SooToday received the following Letter to the Editor from reader Janet Hart, in response to St. Andrew's to celebrate final service at historic church:
I am so sorry to see another Christian Church closing its doors.
It is a sign of our demoralized society and erratic society where drugs and home life are as we have known. It is in our generation. Churches and their groups keep many families together. It offered values to see us through life.
Many of us changed due to circumstances beyond our control like job losses due to mechanization and foreign competition and products.
It is a very commercial society we live in and advertisers make it a temptation that every person has to have a cell phone even our children.
I do not blame the children but parents who find it easier to give in than to take the responsibility of saying NO! No to sleazy clothing and things that make our children targets for predators and drug traffickers.
Respect for others and ourselves begins at home.
