A local woman who wrote a play called She is looking for actors, sponsors and production team members to participate.

She is a raw and resonant play exploring the complexities of intimate partner violence through the lens of women's lived experiences.

It has been re-written from its original form that was delivered to a sold out audience at the 2024 Fringe North Festival, to a full length two act performance art piece.

She is more than a play — it is a platform for dialogue, awareness, healing, and change,” said Sarah Skagen, the play’s writer, producer and director.

“Through compelling storytelling and emotional honesty, the production aims to challenge stigma, validate survivors, and invite communities to confront difficult truths with compassion and accountability.”

Skagen is accepting expressions of interest from individuals and organizations who are passionate about social justice, storytelling, and making a difference through the arts.

The production requires:

  • Nine actors, eight women of varying ages/demographics and one man. No experience required.
  • Production Team Members – stage managers, designers (set, props, sound, costumes), and crew who are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and high-quality artistic experience.
  • Sponsors and Community Partners – Organizations, businesses, and individuals who believe in using art as a catalyst for social change and are willing to support this important work through financial contributions, in-kind donations, or promotional partnerships.

Skagen said there are several reasons why people will want to participate in this. They can make an impact by bringing visibility to an urgent and often hidden issue.

They can use theatre to spark reflection and change. And they can join a team committed to empathy, integrity, and excellence.

“We aim to foster a trauma-informed and inclusive creative process. No one will be asked to share personal experiences unless they choose to. All participants will be respected and supported throughout,” Skagen said.

She will be performed at the Sault Theatre Workshop from Sept. 17-20.
