Things are all good, apparently.
Sixteen years after vowing to never again perform in the Sault, Matthew Good has announced a concert date at The Machine Shop.
The show is scheduled for April 25, 2024.
Good’s bad relationship with Sault Ste. Marie dates back to a performance at Algoma University’s Speakeasy pub in 2007. Depending on the source, either the crowd was loud and disrespectful or Good was rude and unappreciative.
"Playing [the show] was certainly no favour to me,” Good later wrote. “As I said, I could have simply driven straight through town and not bothered. Unfortunately, because of this, in the future that is precisely what I intend to do.”
Good appeared ready to end his boycott against the Sault with a performance scheduled for March 26, 2020 — but it was cancelled amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
