Buskers, new carnival rides highlight 100th Rotaryfest

Rotaryfest organizers have announced more details about this year's festivities — the 100th anniversary of the Sault's iconic summer festival.

Rotaryfest, The Sault’s Summer Festival is back for its 100th year this July. Festivities run from Thursday, July 13 to Saturday, July 15 in Clergue Park.

“100 years is a huge milestone for Rotaryfest. It’s always great fun for the family with free music and activities for all ages," shared Paul Walz, Co-Chair of Rotaryfest. "We hope everyone can come down and celebrate 100 years with us.”

Buskers are back for all three days of Rotaryfest and will walk Queen Street as part of the 100th Annual Rotary Community Day Parade presented by Evolugen. Algoma Steel Buskerville performances include returning and beloved talents: AllezUp Circus, Jon the Cowguy, and Marianne Trenka. Spectators can expect juggling, hula-hooping, acrobatics, stilt-walking, strongman stunts, and a hint of magic. Algoma Steel Buskerville also boasts a Light Show as part of the entertainment on Thursday and Friday nights, complete with fire-breathing, fire-eating, fire-dancing and fire-more!  *In the case of a fire ban, AllezUp will deliver an amazing LED light show.

The Rotaryfest Wheels on the Water Car Show is returning to the Machine Shop on Friday, July 14. The event will be open to the public from 6-9 p.m. Early birds can find the pre-registration package here. This is a licenced event, with food available on site; so you can make a night of it and check out some of the Sault’s cool and classic cars!

Back by popular demand, the midway returns! Gable Brothers Shows will make their debut at Rotaryfest in the North Civic Centre green space on Thursday, July 13 and Friday, July 14 from 2-10 p.m., and Saturday, July 15 from noon to 11 p.m. This new midway provides all the action for the young and young at heart, with a focus on family-friendly rides.

Algoma Makers Market is back and setting up shop in the south parking lot of the Bay Street Active Living Centre. Saturday, July 15 only, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Come support your favourite local businesses, makers, and creators. Find the full roster of vendors at rotaryfest.com.

If you’re a local organization that’s enthusiastic about Sooperheroes, don’t forget to enter your float in the parade! The 100th Annual Rotary Community Days Parade presented by Evolugen takes off down Queen Street on Saturday, July 15, at 11 a.m., but the deadline for registration is July 5!
