Fruitful Sex film director victorious in trademark battle against Fruit of the Loom

TORONTO, ONTARIO (November 24, 2006) - Today film director Michelle Messina will finally own her trademark with the receipt of her certificate after a six-year battle against Fruit of the Loom, stemming from her 1998 animated film Fruitful Sex.

Ms. Messina plans to roll out a Fruitful Sex apparel line in stores for Spring/Summer of 2007.

On-line at FruitfulSex.com Michelle has a variety of printed shirts now available for sale.

Fruitful Sex, a wholesome stop-motion animation about a banana and orange that marry, consummate their wedding and have babies, was trademark approved by the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) in April of 2000.

A few short months later, Fruit of the Loom opposed the trademark approval.

A hearing was scheduled in Ottawa at the CIPO before the opposition board in March of this year.

Ms. Messina's patience and dedication to her project ripened for sweet success.

Fruit of the Loom withdrew the case on the day of the hearing.

The day after, the trademark for Fruitful Sex was reinstated to Ms. Messina.

Michelle Messina's animated film Fruitful Sex received much attention across North America's Film Festival circuit in 1998, travelling to the Florida Film Festival, the Toronto Worldwide Short Film Festival and the Palm Springs Film Festival.

She currently has Fruitful Sex t-shirts and other apparel in the works, including the re-introduction of the film Fruitful Sex, and business dealings that were delayed due to the opposition.

Last month Ms. Messina was invited to participate and survey New York City's market for women's wear and will use this trip to help position her apparel line.
