Can't get enough of that wonderful Duff (photos)

At exactly 7:49 p.m.
At exactly 7:49 p.m. the predominantly female tween audience that occupied just under 5,000 seats in the Steelback Centre Tuesday night began chanting "Hilary! Hilary! Hilary!"

Six minutes later the lights dimmed, the audience let out a deafening shriek and Hilary Duff's Play With Fire filled the arena, barely drowning out the frenzied audience.

As Duff descended the stairs at centre stage all legs and sparkles and glitter, she confidently strutted above the crowd showing off those marvelous gams, leaving the majority of the dance moves to her undeniably fit four-person entourage.

The highly choreographed performance left little room for improvisation although she did, for a brief moment, bend down and touch hands with a few lucky front-row concert goers.

Backed by an impressively tight seven-piece band, she sang hit after hit and almost every track from her latest release, Dignity.

The set list included Danger, Beat of My Heart, Why Not, Never Stop, Someone's Watching Over Me, Wake Up, So Yesterday and covers of the GoGos' Our Lips Are Sealed and Pat Benatar's Love is a Battlefield.

Looking around, fans young and old were spotted dancing, waving light sabers and singing along with every word, including one brawny young lad of about 17 years donning a spectacular mohawk.

It was an odd sight to behold, but demonstrates Duff's universal appeal.

This message was left today on Duff's MySpace page: "Amazing concert in Sault Ste. Marie. Wow, you did well and you look just like you do in movies and magazines. Hope you enjoy your time back at home...hope you come back to the Sault again. LOL I know it's small but trust me, I think it was the best the Sault's ever had."

Sault Ste. Marie was the last stop on her North American tour.
