The Buggles prophetic "Video killed the radio star?", a song that ushered in the MTV-era, is not applicable these days in Sault Ste. Marie.
The Art Gallery of Algoma (AGA) will be hosting "The Golden Age of Radio" on November 12th & 13th at 8:00 pm. "The Golden Age of Radio" features the Olde Tyme Radio Players, a comedy troupe featuring many well-known broadcasters from past and present. The Players will stage three episodes of the famous radio shows "Flash Gordon," "Fibber McGee and Molly" and "Sherlock Holmes -The Musgrave Ritual."
These special on-stage live performances (being held in Gallery 1) are fund-raisers for the Art Gallery of Algoma.
Tickets for "The Golden Age of Radio" can be obtained at the Gallery or by calling 949-9067. Tickets are $25.00, including appetizers and refreshments provided during the intermission. Wine will be available at a cash bar.
The AGA is located at 10 East Street. For more information on the AGA, visit www.artgalleryofalgoma.on.ca
