The Algoma University Visual Arts program is proud to present ROYGBIV VIBGYOR, a dynamic group exhibition showcasing work by students in the Group Exhibition and Professional Practices course.
The exhibition runs until April 3 at the Sault Ste. Marie Museum.
Focusing on the interplay between black, white, and colour, the exhibition draws inspiration from how different cultures remember and classify the colours of the rainbow.
In Western contexts, the acronym ROYGBIV represents the sequence red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet, while in Eastern traditions, VIBGYOR is commonly used. This cross-cultural perspective serves as the foundation for the student’s artistic exploration.
The Group Exhibition and Professional Practices course highlights the exhibition’s intent to engage the community in an exploration of colour, contrast, memory, and perception. Students have developed a visually compelling and thought-provoking collection that reflects both their individual artistic voices and a shared investigation of cultural perspectives.
Community members, art lovers and supporters are encouraged to attend and experience the diverse and dynamic works of Algoma University’s emerging artists.
