The Métis Nation of Ontario in partnership with the Historic Sault Ste. Marie Council is proud to offer a free rock polishing workshop with artisan Joseph Aikens on Saturday, January 13, 2007, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Métis Nation of Ontario office at 26 Queen Street East.

Joseph Aiken, a Métis who now lives in Heyden, Ontario, is a talented stone and wood carver and rock polisher that uses traditional methods to produce his unique artworks.

He will provide "hands-on" instruction on the art of polishing stones and rocks using traditional methods as well as modern methods during this interactive workshop.

Learn how to polish stones that can be used to make jewellery, crafts and decorations.

Bring your favourite rock to polish or choose from one of the many stones that will be provided.

This workshop is of interest to individuals of all ages.

There is no charge for this workshop.

Light refreshments will be provided.

Space is limited so you are encouraged to pre-register no later than January 10 by calling (705) 254-1768.

The Métis Nation of Ontario brings Métis people together to celebrate and share their rich culture and heritage and to forward the aspirations of the Métis people in Ontario as a collective.
