Puppet is out, new dress is in

Last night marked that all fateful last rehearsal before dress rehearsal for Stage One's production of Alice.

Ten minutes before the end of the rehearsal, they decided to dump puppet Alice.

"It was just coming off creepy," said Courtney Larkin, who plays Alice in Wonder Land. "And I don't think Alice is supposed to be creepy."

So the production director Doug Daynard decided to just forget about the puppet and get the costume manager to make Larkin (shown with the other Alice, Taylor Gilmar) a dress before the production opens on Wednesday night.

"The puppet was causing more problems than it solved," said Daynard.

Originally, they had the puppet so it would grow and shrink at the appropriate times but now Larkin will be working on that herself, in her new dress.

So come see Stage One's production of Alice at the Sault Theatre Workshop's Playhouse on Pittsburgh Avenue to see how Alice's new dress turns out.

It runs from Wednesday, December 14 to Saturday, December 17.

Tickets are available at the door and cost $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for students and children.
