While Down in Ashes is a rock band from the nation’s capital, their drummer is well-known drummer and Sault native, Steven Brogno.

Steve played for several Sault bands including Driving Dave Home and King Brown.

Forged in the bar scene of Eastern Canada, Down in Ashes released their first single, Sexy Machinery in 2007 followed by steady touring along the 401 corridor from Montreal to Toronto.

They have also been a repeat act on several of Canada’s largest outdoor music festivals including the Cisco Ottawa Bluesfest.

Their release of a self-titled EP was soon followed up with two videos by acclaimed Canadian director Adrian Langley.

Down in Ashes recently won first prize in the Big Money Shot band competition sponsored by Ottawa’s Live 88.5 Radio.

With $10,000 offered to the winner of the next level of competition, Down in Ashes made the cut of the top 15 bands, out of 60.

Their new single recorded for the competition, Breaking the Black was co-written with Lukas Rossi, (Rock Star Supernova) with producer Terry Brown (Rush, Blue Rodeo, Dream Theatre).

They are also in the studio this week recording their third album with their own producer.

Please support Steve and his band by giving them your vote for the Big Money Shot competition.
