Sault Symphony Orchestra presents exciting oboe

Featuring special guest soloist Laura Reynolds

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON (March 29, 2010) - The Sault Symphony Orchestra is proud to present soloist Laura Reynolds as she joins the orchestra for the final presentation event of the 37th season.

Exciting Oboe will be held Saturday, April 17, at Lake Superior State University's Fine Arts Centre at 8 p.m.

Laura Reynolds has a rich history in music and an extraordinary talent.

She joined the applied faculty of UC Davis in January, 2000.

She is the principal oboist with the California Symphony.

Laura freelances throughout the Bay Area, including performances with the San Francisco Symphony and is a member of the applied music faculty in the San Francisco Conservatory's Preparatory and Adult Extension Divisions.

Also a chamber music enthusiast, Laura was a founding member of Citywinds, a San Francisco-based woodwind quintet dedicated to contemporary repertoire.

Exciting Oboe promises to be a special evening of classical music entertainment. The audience will be treated to Martinu's "Concerto for Oboe," plus Albinoni's "Concerto for Two Oboes," where Laura will be joined with the 0rchestra's own principal oboist, Cathy Wilkinson.

Tickets for Exciting Oboe are on sale now at STARS and the LSSU box office in Sault, Michigan, or at the Station Mall Box Office in Sault Ontario.

The Sault Symphony Association is a not-for-profit charitable organization.

The primary operation of the association is the Sault Symphony Orchestra.

The SSO boasts International musicians and presents several high quality events in Canada and the US annually.

The association is also committed to music education and operates the Sault Symphony School of Music, which provides training to students of any age.
