Soo Film Festival president confident 'the show will go on'

Sept. 16-20 sees Soo Film Festival return to downtown Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan for its seventh year. Films will screen at the historic Soo Theatre and Bayliss Public Library, a Superior District Library.

Festival President Jason Markstrom says, “In these uncertain times we are confident the show will go on. We look forward to showing off the strength, resilience, and talent of the Great Lakes and beyond.”

An open call for entries began March 30. Documentary and all genres of fiction, feature and shorts, will be accepted online exclusively through FilmFreeway. The festival committee has set a no-fee early bird deadline of April 26. The regular deadline is May 31 and requires a $15 entry fee. Late entries must be submitted by June 22 with an entry fee of $20. The selected films will be announced the last week of July. Soo Film Festival 2020 is open to filmmakers worldwide but will continue to emphasize and showcase work from the Great Lakes region.

The 2020 Soo Film Festival organizing committee is Jason Markstrom, Allison Youngs, Mark Dobias, Pat Egan, and Susan James.
