The Strange Tale of Flowers and Architecture

Maybe Lynn Anderson "never promised you a rose garden," but Erin Leigh has something much better in mind anyway.

The gallery in Loplops Lounge will be hosting a very special and unique exhibition by local "floral architect" Erin Leigh from September 30th until October 6th.

Leigh constructs fresh arrangements of flowers and foliage into organic structures that touch on the concepts of space, color, texture, line, feeling and intent.

The work is intended to both enhance and reflect upon the interior or exterior of the space it inhabits. Leigh has created pieces for a number of independent films and ticketed events (Skate Canada International, Flowers
Canada Conventions etc.) and is part of the event design team of "A Thymely Affair."

Leigh's exhibit offers an opportunity to experience the range that is possible when creating work with ephemeral materials.

A special opening reception will be held for Erin Leigh on Thursday, September 30th from 7 pm - 9 pm.

Loplops Lounge is located at 651 Queen Street East (next to the Duke of Windsor). For more information, visit www.loplops.com.

(Please note: The floral architecture pictured above is not Erin Leigh's and was temporarily borrowed from award-winning, Manilla-based, floral architect Mabel Academia as a shining example of the genre.)
