The Trews truly do rock (photos)

Tuesday night's appearance by the Trews at the Canadian Night Club marks my third live experience with the Canadian rock four-piece, and their performance just keeps getting better.
Tuesday night's appearance by the Trews at the Canadian Night Club marks my third live experience with the Canadian rock four-piece, and their performance just keeps getting better.

Colin MacDonald (vocals, guitar), John-Angus MacDonald (guitar), Sean Dalton (drums) and Jack Syperek (bass) played as though they were in front of an Air Canada Centre capacity audience, keeping the hungry Sault crowd on its feet.

The addition of Jeff Heisholt to the tour broke Colin MacDonald away from the keyboard, allowing him to roam fast and free for the show's entirety.

I even caught the normally solemn-faced front man smiling a few times.

Heisholt shone behind those keys on many of the selections from the band's latest release No Time For Later, especially the current piano-laden single Paranoid Freak.

The show was a textbook example of a catchy, light a fire under your butt, melt your face but in a good way, rock and roll experience.

I'm sure I wasn't the only one who left with some strange, yet unforgettable and thoroughly enjoyable Trews career-spanning hybrid running through her head.

I think it was called Poor Ol' Broken Hearted Paranoid Gun Control Freak Who's Not Ready To Go On Burning Wheels, So She's Leaving.

Included in the fan mass at the front of the stage glued to every Trews move were the members of Sense of Truth, the local show openers.

The recent winners of the Battle of the Bands at Algoma University punched out a relentless set of rock originals, proving their victory gig was not a one time thing.

Look for them to open for State of Shock and Econoline Crush at the Canadian Night Club on June 13 as well as Skid Row at Runway Park on June 28.

What's next?
