SooToday.com received some exciting news today from local fiddle-man-on-fire, Sheldon Jaaskelainen.

It seems he and his band of turkeys are hittin' the dusty...well...snowy trail to shake things up across Ontario.

I guess they won't be the Sault's little secret much longer.

Darn it all to heck!

Hope they're not travelin' in a cheap old truck.

Well hello all.

This is Sheldon here from The Wild Turkeys.

We have found ourselves busy as ever recently with recording a new, full-length album (at my brothers killer studio in Toronto), and planning tour dates through the summer and into the fall.

Our e-mail list is always expanding, and I’m so glad to hear that many of you are interested in where and when we are playing next.

We have a small northern and southern Ontario tour planned, and here are the dates:

March 6th - The Columbia Restaurant - Wawa - Ontario - 8:30 p.m.

March 7th - Unitarian Hall - Thunder Bay - Ontario - 8 p.m.

March 8th - Manitouwadge High School Auditorium - Manitouwadge - Ontario - TBA (check MySpace link)

March 9th - Lady Dunn Health Centre - Wawa - Ontario - 2 p.m.

March 14th - The Mansion House - St. Catharines - Ontario - 9:30 p.m. (opening set for the Marantz Project)

March 15th - The Rusty Snail - Peterborough - Ontario - 8:30 p.m.

March 16th - The French Cultural Center - Penetanguishene - Ontario - 8 p.m. (there will be afternoon show as well, further details on MySpace.com)

March 17th - The Red Lion Pub - Toronto - Ontario - 8:30pm (St. Patrick’s Day!)

If you are in the area of any of these places, come on out for a night of unabashed fun, hootin’ an’ hollerin, and dancing.

We all eagerly await our new album, which will be called Suspendered, to be mixed and mastered, and will be officially released on April 26th, 2008 at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall here in Sault Ste. Marie.

That will be an especially fun night you won’t want to miss.

More info on that will be available soon.

For information on any of these dates as to ticket price or exact location, look us up on MySpace.

Yours ever so truly,

Sheldon
