Well, George Stroumboulopoulos' Operation Disc Drop is off to a strong start.

Less than a week after the host of CBC's The Hour mentioned the idea on-air, music aficionados from Vancouver, Halifax and points in between have compiled and dropped CDs of music they feel the rest of the world should know about.

One aspiring individual writes: "I love the idea of free music and my cd is made of 100% royalty free music created by me using Pro Tools and Acid Pro 6."

The Hour Blog has been updated with instructions on how to take part in Operation Disc Drop and encourages participants to post their track-listings and drop spots.

If you happen to be riding a Toronto subway in the near future, take a good look around.

It seems to be an extremely popular CD drop zone.

Also included in the blog is a note from a Saultite reflecting on the days of punk rock tape-swapping and a shout-out to SooToday.com.
