Valdy hits Northern Ontario. Shows include Wawa and Manitoulin

Canadian Folk Musician Valdy played the small town of Thessalon and 130 people from all over the region came out to hear and see him play.  

After 14 albums, 22 singles, four Gold records, two Juno Awards, and seven Juno Nominations for Country Male Vocalist and Folksinger, and 38 years of touring, Valdy still has a wonderful Canadian following. 

And why not? 

For four decades, he has been a legendary songwriter, singer and guitarist in Canada.  

And his talent as a troubadour continues to grow.  

The Winnipeg Free Press wrote: “Valdy elicited a genuinely warm standing ovation, the real kind, where the applause continues long after the encore is assured.”

In mid November, Valdy will be touring Northern Ontario, playing four shows on the back roads of Northern Ontario, on his way to a couple of concerts in the Ottawa Valley.

Monday, Nov. 19, 7:30 pm, Valdy will play a concert in Oliver Paipoonge, at the Murillo Community Centre. Advance Tickets will be $25, with $5 from each ticket sold going to the Disaster Relief Committee (DRC) in that region. Tickets will be sold in Thunder Bay at Calico Cafe on Bay, PC Medic on Victoria Ave, Chaltrek on Balmoral, and at Wilson's Store in Murillo.

Tuesday Nov. 20, 7:30 pm, Valdy will play an all ages show at the auditorium in Ecole St. Joseph, in Wawa. Advance tickets will be $20 Adults and $10 for children with an adult. Tickets will be sold at the school and at Coloured Lengths Hair Salon in Wawa.

Wednesday, Nov. 21, 7:30 pm, Valdy will play the Café in the Woods, near Little Current, Highway 540 Honora Bay, at a ski chalet on Manitoulin Island. Advance tickets will be $20.  Tickets are available from Kerrene Tilson, contact email is cafeinthewoods@gmail.com

Thursday, Nov. 22, 7:30 pm, Valdy will play the Lavigne Community Centre. At this community concert, there will be two local musicians opening the show, after an audition night for acoustic songwriters at Lavigne Tavern, on Nov. 8, 2012.

The Lavigne concert tickets will be $30, with $10 from each ticket sold going to the new Waterfront Park project in Lavigne, Parc Riverain. The Valdy concert is the first major fundraiser for the new waterfront park in Lavigne. Advance tickets are available in Sudbury at Cosmic Dave's Guitar Store, Records on Wheels, at the Lavigne Tavern, and in North Bay at Acclaim Sound and Lighting.
