Free Paint Night
April 29
Get creative and participate in a free virtual paint night held by The Northern Outlet. The paint night is geared towards local youth and will start at 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 28 via Zoom. The first 10 youth to register will receive free painting supplies.
The Midnight Echo live at the Rockstar Bar
April 30
Vancouver based alternative rock band The Midnight Echo will be playing live at the Rockstar Bar (864 Queen St. E.) on Saturday, April 30 starting at 8:30 p.m. The Midnight Echo has performed on the same stages as Finger 11 and Monowhales, and will be including Sault Ste. Marie in their Whatever Happens, Happens tour.
Bone Yard at Shooters
April 30
There will be more live music to enjoy this weekend, with Bone Yard performing at Shooters Downstairs Lounge (68 Dennis St.) on Saturday, April 30 starting at 8 p.m. The staff at Shooters Lounge are excited to host the band for the first time. The local rock band is made up of Greg Simpson, Alex D’Ettorre and Warren Reville.
Free Seminar: How to Prune Trees and Shrubs
May 1
New North Greenhouses (719 Airport Rd.) is putting on a free seminar on Sunday, May 1 at 2 p.m., led by horticultural expert Susan Richards. Attendees will learn about the best timing and methods for pruning trees and shrubs. The demonstration will be held in the main greenhouse, and if the weather permits, a tour of the display gardens will be included.
Children’s Mental Health Week Virtual Yoga
May 2
In honour of Children’s Mental Health Week, Amanda Lambert from Strong Minds will be hosting a beginner level virtual yoga class on May 2 at 6 p.m. This is a great way for children aged 13-18 to include some physical activity into their day. A yoga mat and quiet space is needed to follow along with the class.
