30 years after its original release, Bob Marley's revolutionary album, Exodus continues to lead the music industry through innovative technology and creative marketing.
On-line sales began yesterday of the 30th Anniversary commemorative Exodus package which includes a combination CD/DVD, a 144-page hardcover book, the original CD and a special edition re-issue of the vinyl recording.
But the portion of this package that has music collectors, critics and the industry as a whole so excited is the new USB memory stick, available in red, green and gold which contains not only the original 10 Exodus songs, but also exclusive audio and video content.
Although other artists such as Nine Inch Nails and the Barenaked Ladies have used the technology in a limited capacity, this is the first album to ever be release with major label backing in this format, and could ultimately lead to the death of the CD.
"It's looking like Bob Marley is going to change the future of music," wrote Daniel Kreps of Rolling Stone.
The 4000 limited edition USB memory sticks are currently only available to those who join the Bob Marley Passport Fan Club at bobmarley.com.
