Recently returning from a tour that took it to China and Tokyo, BC's dance punk band extraordinaire You Say Party! We Say Die! (YSP! WSD!) is eagerly hitting the Canadian dusty trail once again with a new-found appetite for live performance.

"It was a lot of fun. It sort of put the wind back in our sails after a tumultuous fall," bassist Stephen O'Shea told me during a recent phone interview. "We basically went on hiatus for three months and we talked a little bit, but we didn't practice. That's a pretty significant amount of time away from the jam space. But it was good for us because when we went to China, it ended up showing us how much we really enjoyed being in the band. It sort of renewed our passion for it."

Although YSP! WSD! has garnered massive acclaim and an impressive global fan-base over its four and a half year career, the band truly gets off connecting with its audience, familiar or otherwise.

"We're always trying to branch out and play more places. We love playing everywhere," said O'Shea. "And there's certain places obviously where we have a fan base built up and we like to go back to them, Sault Ste. Marie being one of those places. Thunder Bay as well. Those are just really great towns to be in. None of us really get that euphoric state of getting to play to a thousand people that we wouldn't get from playing for 10 or 15 people. It's all the same for us. Every city matters in that sense."

YSP! WSD! are scheduled to play Sault Ste. Marie on Tuesday, October 21 at Loplops Gallery-Lounge, 651 Queen Street East.

With them will be Toronto's Lioness.

Show time is 9:30 p.m.

Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at Loplops, Dish Esspresso Bar and Cafe (740 Queen St. E.), on line at www.loplops.com or at the door.

You must be 19 or older to attend.
