The City of Sault Ste. Marie has released details of this year's curb and sidewalk construction program.
Your tax dollars will provide $621,480 for 1,489 square metres of sidewalks, 318 linear metres of curb and six accessibility ramps.
"Typically, the program is compiled from requests from councillors, residents and staff," says Dan Perri, the city's director of public works.
"Budgetary constraints allow for a limited amount of work to be undertaken each year. It is necessary to prioritize the requests and normally not all requests can be accommodated," Perri said in a report to Mayor Matthew Shoemaker and councillors.
The program represents approximately 0.1 per cent of the curb inventory and 0.3 per cent of the sidewalks maintained by the city.
