Canada Day revellers blamed for breaking a dock

The Bushplane Museum is asking more than 20 dock-busting trespassers to consider making online donations to its Canada Helps page

This seaplane dock was broken by Canada Day celebrants, the Bushplane Museum says.

Canada Day celebrations on the Sault waterfront got a little out of hand last night, according to the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre.

"If you are one of the 20-plus people who trespassed last night and broke our dock, perhaps you would consider making a donation so we can afford to build a new one," the popular museum said late Wednesday afternoon in a social post.

"Our docks are behind security gates for your safety," the post added.

"They are also a source of revenue for the Bushplane and support our operations, including many programs for children and seniors. And don't we all love seeing bushplanes on our waterfront!"

Voted the No. 1 best place to visit in Sault Ste. Marie by TripAdvisor, the museum is asking the dock-wreckers to consider making online donations toward the cost of a new dock to its Canada Helps page.

The now-broken museum dock is part of a federally-registered water aerodrome (CPX8) that shares airspace with the Sault Ste. Marie International Seaplane Base across the river.
