For hosting Gateway Casinos Sault Ste. Marie, the City of Sault Ste. Marie will receive a fourth quarter payment from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation  of over $400,000.

The payment, which totals $438,215, covers a stretch between Jan. 1 and March 31.

During OLG's fiscal year (April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025), the city has received a total of $1,780,887.

The site opened locally in May 1999. Since that time, the city has received $37,067,506.

A representative from the City of Sault Ste. Marie confirmed the funds are reinvested in the community, "supporting asset management projects for municipal facilities and alleviating the tax levy burden."

The payments communities receive are based on a formula applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.
