Year-to-date crossings on the International Bridge are up from 2022, but down from pre-pandemic numbers of 2019.
The International Bridge Administration announced this morning that there were 78,394 one-way crossings in December 2023.
The monthly total was up 36 per cent compared to the same period last year, which saw 20,758 fewer crossings.
The total year-to-date crossings as of Dec. 31, 2023, were 971,006, an increase of 55.4 per cent compared to 2022.
Compared to pre-pandemic levels of 2019, year-to-date totals are down 28 per cent.
The breakdown of the monthly numbers for December follows:
- Commuter fare: 39, 206 (up 43.9 per cent from last year)
- Full-fare passenger cars: 33,983 (up 34.2 per cent from last year)
- Car pulling trailers: 404 (up 5.2 per cent from last year)
- Commercial trucks: 4,801 (up 2.6 per cent from last year)
