Sunday’s Easter Seals Telethon might have been cancelled, but that didn’t stop Saultites from donating online, calling in with pledges, and purchasing 50/50 tickets in support of Easter Seals kids.

The telethon phone number was live throughout the day, directing to just two phones being answered in separate rooms – a drastic difference from the traditional shoulder-to-shoulder panels of 16 that the Sault Ste. Marie telethon is accustomed to.

Despite the hurdles surrounding the event, over $46,000 was raised for Easter Seals Ontario, a charity that provides programs and services to children and youth with physical disabilities to help them achieve greater independence, accessibility and integration.

On top of the generous donations, the inaugural Easter Seals Telethon 50/50 successfully raised $8,420 for Easter Seals kids. Caroline Dukes won the $8,420 prize pot with ticket #ES-2443320.
