The Diocese of Algoma has announced that Dr. Roberta Bondar, Canada’s first woman in space, will be the keynote speaker at the Bishop’s Dinner on Friday, May 9, at the Algoma Water Tower Inn in the Sault.

The evening will celebrate the launch of the Anne Germond Legacy Fund, an Episcopal Trust dedicated to "sustaining the ministry of the Bishop’s Office and supporting the future of faith in Algoma".

“It is a tremendous honour to welcome Dr. Roberta Bondar as our guest speaker,” Archbishop Germond said in a news release.

“Her life and work are a powerful testament to the kind of visionary leadership and compassionate service we hope to inspire through the Anne Germond Legacy Fund.”

Tickets are $150, which includes a $70 charitable tax receipt, and are available here.

The evening will begin with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. There will also be a silent auction featuring contributions from across the Diocese.

Those interested in donating an item or experience to the auction can contact Mhora Penny at mhora.penny@dioceseofalgoma.com.
