Water levels in local rivers are at their highest in decades, bringing widespread flooding to areas around Goulais River.
This spring's washout has flooded fields and yards through the area, breaking records in at least one place since data collection began decades ago.
The flow rate at Kirby's Corner recently hit 429 m³/s -- the highest since record collection began in 2007. Goulais River at Searchmont peaked at 299 m³/s on April 29, the highest flow rate since 1985 and the third highest since record keeping began in 1967.
Similarly, Batchawana River recently hit 402 m³/s -- also the highest flow rate since 1985 and third highest since record keeping began in 1967.
As flow rates climb, water levels have tracked just behind, resulting in flooding seen through parts of the Goulais River area.
