GALLERY: East-end playground gets some cool new equipment

The City of Sault Ste. Marie took another step forward in its Parks and Recreation Master Plan Friday, unveiling fresh play structures for children at Parkland Park

Sault Mayor Matthew Shoemaker, joined by smiling Parkland Public School students, cut the ribbon to officially mark the installation of new playground equipment at Parkland Park on Amber Street Friday afternoon.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan aims to revitalize three parks a year.

So far, Anna Marinelli Park and Kiwanis Park (formerly Rosedale Park) have benefited from improvements through the Master Plan.

The Sault has 68 parks with playground equipment, with the Master Plan hoping to revitalize 40 parks over the next several years.

Shoemaker and city staff will be in attendance at another ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate improvements at Westwood Park at 1 p.m. Friday, June 20.
