Sault College proudly hosted the inaugural High School Business Case Competition, welcoming approximately 70 students from four local high schools-Superior Heights, White Pines, Central Algoma Secondary School (CASS), and St. Mary’s College.
The event brought together the region’s brightest young minds to compete in a dynamic business case challenge and business simulation, fostering skills in teamwork, critical thinking, and entrepreneurship.
The competition featured six case teams, with remaining students participating in a business simulation. Scholarships and cash prizes, including gift cards, were awarded to top-performing students in both streams.
This year’s event was made possible through the generous support of the Sault North Rotary Club (title sponsor), as well as BDO, Stefanizzi Professional Corp., and RPA Canada.
Celebrating Achievement
• 1st Place: St. Mary’s College, Keira Berlingieri, Rocco Gioia and Justin Mercado
• 2nd Place: St. Mary’s College, Nathan Dupuis, Diego Garcia, Mac Fenchak and Hunter Goral (Jackson)
• 3rd Place: Superior Heights, Jon Andrewm Vince Dela Cruz and Julien Chénier
The winning school will display the custom trophy for one year, until the next competition.
Handcrafted Awards Highlight Sault College Expertise
A highlight of the event was the presentation of hand-crafted trophies and plaques, designed and manufactured by Peter Corbett, Professor, Skilled Trades Machine Shop at Sault College.
Using a briefcase concept photo by Jay Caswell and advanced Fusion 360 CAD/CAM software, Professor Corbett created unique aluminum trophies for the top three teams.
The wooden bases were crafted with support from Mark Caruso, Director of Facilities Management, and his maintenance team, using wood donated by Victor Zauner and boxes built by Ernie Cicino. Martha Irwin provided access to materials and equipment.
Sault College extends sincere thanks to the many departments and staff members who contributed to the event’s success. The College community’s collective efforts ensured a memorable and inspiring experience for all participants.
