The late Allan Hackett, a stalwart member of the United Way Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District, will receive the King Charles III Coronation Medal posthumously in recognition of his outstanding dedication and service to the community.

Hackett devoted over 22 years to United Way, serving as both Campaign Chair and a three-time board chair. His leadership was instrumental in shaping the organization's direction, including advancing key strategic changes to better address critical community issues.

Among his many contributions, Hackett spearheaded the Action for Community Change project, which amplified local voices and helped shape responsive solutions for the region’s most pressing needs.

“Allan’s leadership and dedication to our community have left an incredible legacy,” said Board Chair Jonathan Boyer-Nolan.

“His vision helped shape the work we do today, and we are honoured to recognize his impact with this well-deserved award.”

A small ceremony will be held in his honour at a later date, during which the medal will be presented to his wife, Donna Hackett.
