A new restaurant in the Sault is opening its doors to the public sooner than anticipated.
Smitty's Restaurant & Lounge will host its grand opening at 384 McNabb St. on Monday, June 30, a spokesperson confirmed with SooToday on Thursday, but a soft opening for the newest addition to the popular restaurant chain is happening for guests, friends and family on Sunday, June 29.
Smitty's regular hours of operation will be 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
Billed as "one of Canada's most established and loved family dining brands," Smitty's offers a number of dining options, ranging from all-day breakfast to comfort food and more health-conscious fare.
The chain currently has more than 80 restaurants across Canada, with the majority of them in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
Smitty's Restaurant & Lounge is located at the intersection of McNabb and Allard streets and sits directly adjacent to the Food Basics plaza.
Over the years the McNabb Street building has been home to Aurora’s, Amici’s, Casa Mia and Chicago Cookshop, but has sat vacant for years.
The most recent restaurant to operate out of the location was Thali the Indian Cuisine, which closed for good earlier this year.
In 2023, the McNabb Street building was sold to a Sault-based numbered company for $1.2 million. It had been owned by Ben Pino since 2003.
