One dead in off road vehicle collision on I-75 near Rudyard

Emergency medical service people administered life support techniques to the sole occupant of the side-by-side ORV, who ultimately was pronounced deceased on arrival at My Michigan Hospital.

Re: Fatal accident on I-75 near Rudyard Wednesday afternoon.

On 08/30/23 at approximately 4:22 p.m., Chippewa County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) deputies and traffic crash investigators were dispatched to a personal injury traffic crash that occurred on South Bound I-75 near the 375 Mile Marker, Rudyard Township.

Upon arrival, deputies observed a minivan had struck a side-by-side off-road vehicle (ORV) that was traveling on the highway. The mini-van was occupied by a family of five. One adult and one child were transported to My Michigan Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, the other three occupants were treated by emergency medical services (EMS) and released on scene.

EMS administered life support techniques to the sole occupant of the side-by-side ORV, who ultimately was pronounced deceased on arrival at My Michigan Hospital.

CCSO deputies and traffic crash investigators are continuing to investigate this fatal traffic crash. Thank you to central dispatch, Kinross EMS, Rudyard fire, MSP, Bay Mills PD, CCSO victim services unit and several civilians who assisted on scene.
