A popular Canadian restaurant chain will launch its newest location in the Sault later this year.
It's expected that Smitty's will open its doors at 384 McNabb St. later this summer, a spokesperson for the chain confirmed this week.
The building is located at the intersection of McNabb and Allard streets and sits directly adjacent to the Food Basics plaza.
Billed as "one of Canada's most established and loved family dining brands," Smitty's offers a number of dining options, ranging from all-day breakfast to comfort food to more health-conscious fare.
The Sault location is currently in the hiring phase.
Over the years the McNabb Street building has been home to Aurora’s, Amici’s and Casa Mia, but has sat vacant for years.
The most recent restaurant to operate out of the location was Chicago Cookshop, which closed its doors in April 2015.
In 2023, the McNabb Street building was sold to a Sault-based numbered company for $1.2 million. It had been owned by Ben Pino since 2003.
