Nearly 50 people attended the speed dating night at Mane Street Cafe and Lounge on Jan. 25, which provided a good opportunity for singles to mingle.
Out of the 48 people that attended, there were 49 matches made. Thirty-one people had at least one match, said organizer Alysha Jordbro, who runs a Facebook page called No Swipe Society.
“Overall I’m thrilled with how the event turned out. Mane Street did such a beautiful job with the venue.
“Everyone showed up ready to have fun. There were no major issues all night. I think it ran very smoothly.”
At the Jan. 25 speed dating event, 24 women were seated at tables and 24 men spent three to four minutes chatting at each table before moving on to the next. Each person checked off who they would like to meet again. Within a few days, each participant was informed of who they matched with.
Jordbro said she received some excellent feedback from participants.
“Everyone let me know that they had such a great time and it was so much fun. There was no awkwardness, and no need to be nervous.
“They also let me know that it was a little bit too loud, and they would have liked to have more time at each table, which is definitely something I can change for the next event.”
Jordbro’s next event will be slightly different, but at the same location.
“The night will start with a cocktail party, followed by two rounds of speed dating, with a break for dancing and mingling,” she said.
This time, participants will get more time to chat during the speed dating part of the night. Jordbro said they will have five to six minutes to chat, and they will be able to mingle during the cocktail party and dancing.
It will be for people ages 50 plus.
Tickets are available now through Eventbrite. Forty tickets are available for the Saturday, March 29 event, which will start at 6 p.m. They are selling for $50 and include appetizers and a drink of your choice.
The theme will be Dancing Through the Decades.
