Do you know a young OHL fan who would love a chance to skate with the Soo Greyhounds? On Tuesday, Nov. 26, kids can skate with the Hounds and shake paws with Dash from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Bell Celebrity Skate presented by Agero hosted at the GFL Memorial Gardens. The event is held on behalf of Rotary Youth Projects, such as the Rotary Adventure Playground and the new splash pad in Bellevue Park.

Admission is a minimum of $35 in pledges, but participants who fundraise above-and-beyond can take home over 40 amazing prizes, including a 6th Generation iPad, tickets to watch the Soo Greyhounds from multiple corporate boxes, a bike, and autographed Soo Greyhound baseball caps.

“The Celebrity Skate is a unique appearance that our organization and the community look forward to each year,” shared Gerry Liscumb Jr., director of public relations and hockey administration for the Soo Greyhounds, “It provides our players that one-on-one experience where they can be up-close and personal with some of their youngest fans. We are excited to once again support this initiative and the great causes it supports.”

This event can be used as a great team fundraiser. After the event, as long as you qualify as a team, Rotary will send you a cheque for 50 per cent of the total your group raised. It’s that simple! This year’s team fundraising prizes include pool parties, bowling parties, and Galaxy Cinema tickets.

“The Bell Celebrity Skate has raised over 1 million dollars with all proceeds going to support junior hockey in Sault Ste. Marie as well as Rotary Youth Projects,” shared Dave Cartmill, event co-chair, “It is another example of the generosity of the people in Sault Ste. Marie who have supported this charity event for more than 20 years.”
