The Soo Tamil Association held its Tamil New Year celebration on Saturday at the Days Inn.
With between 80 and 100 attendees, this year’s event was a vibrant reflection of Tamil heritage and unity in the Sault.
“We began with the lighting of the kuthu vilakku and followed with meaningful performances and moments,” said Navesh Kanna Koneswaran, social media and marketing coordinator.
The evening included:

One of the key milestones of the evening was the launch of the association’s official website, marking a new chapter in their digital presence.
This event also reflects how much the Tamil community has grown — from just two–three families in 2013 to now over 120–150 individuals, with 70 registered members in the Soo Tamil Association.
The association wanted to acknowledge its generous sponsors who made this celebration possible:
- Platinum: Days Inn, The Chaat, Taj Indian Cuisine
