Flooding, emergency road work and winter weather conditions make northern Ontario travel challenging

Travellers in northern Ontario may want to take extra precautions today as a number of area roads and highways are closed due to flooding, emergency road work and winter weather conditions.

Closures include:

Highway 129 closed in both directions between Highway 17 in Thessalon and Highway 667 in Chapleau due to emergency road work.

Highway 101 closed in both directions between Highway 129 in Chapleau and Young Street in Foleyet due to emergency road work.

Highway 11 closed in both directions between Western Avenue in Cochrane and Alary Road in Hearst due to weather conditions.

Marshall's Road in Ingram closed in both directions due to a washout.

Highway 546 closed in both directions between Highway 554 in Iron Bridge and Highway 639 in Elliot Lake due to flooding.

Highway 553 closed in both directions at Cameron Falls Road in Walford due to flooding.

Highway 810 closed in both directions at Highway 553 in Elliot Lake due to flooding.

Witry Road off Highway 552 in Goulais River closed in both directions due to flooding.

Highway 17 closed in both directions between 552 in Goulais River and Pinewood Drive in Wawa due to flooding.

Highway 17 closed in both directions at Highway 631 in White River due to weather conditions.

Olar Road in Goulais River closed in both directions due to flooding.

Island Road in Goulair River closed in both directions due to flooding.

Hemi-Maki Road (off Station Road) closed in both directions due to flooding.
