Unusually warm air will push into the Great Lakes region this weekend, helping daytime highs climb 10 degrees above normal for late December. With this warm air will come showers, rain, and melting snow, making for a wet mess with existing snow on the ground. The temperatures will cool off a bit early next week but remain above freezing until 2025 arrives.
Friday will be overcast, with isolated showers and drizzle as a southeasterly wind pushes temperatures to +3°C.
Saturday will continue to be overcast and foggy, with rain throughout the day as daytime highs climb to +6°C.
Clouds remain in place for Sunday, with only the risk of an isolated shower as temperatures reach +3°C in the afternoon. Similar daytime highs above freezing hang on for early next week.
