This weekend sets the stage for a big change in the overall weather pattern over the Great Lakes. Cold air will start to build this weekend, with chilly windchills near the freezing mark. The cold air and warm water temperatures also set up the chance for snow squalls every time the winds are from the northwest.

On Friday, we will see a mix of sun and clouds, with a gusty, northerly wind that will make afternoon temperatures of 8°C feel a few degrees cooler.

The northerly wind will bring cooler air to the region on Saturday, with daytime highs of 6°C under mostly cloudy skies. As winds back to the northwest and temperatures fall to the freezing mark, a risk of weak snow squalls arrives later in the day and overnight.

Sunday brings a mix of sun and clouds, with daytime highs only reaching 4°C.

A system could move into the region Monday into Tuesday, accumulating snow as temperatures hover near freezing.
