Angela Mei is this year's winner of the Percy Bedford Award as the Sault's top female high school athlete. Mei, a graduating OAC student at Korah, was honoured Tuesday night at the annual ACT awards banquet. A three-sport standout in badminton, basketball and volleyball, Mei will attend Sault College in the fall in the Liberal Arts program. She plans to play volleyball -- and possibly basketball -- for the Cougars of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association. A number of other female athletes were also honoured Tuesday. White Pines was a major winner as three athletes from the east end school were recognized as the city's tops in the various sports. The White Pines winners were Amanda Evans (volleyball), Viktoria Koskenoja (cross-country running) and Sarah Wood (curling.) The other winners were Danielle D/Ettorre of St. Mary's (basketball) and Janine Olthuis of Sir James Dunn (track and field.)
