Basketball action resumes at high school level

The opening week of the boys high school basketball season is in the books.

In senior action on Wednesday night, Korah needed overtime to beat Superior Heights 59-50.

Matt Kment and Zac Zeppa had 13 points each for the Colts.

Connor Malmoff and Jackson Hart had 19 points each for Superior Heights.

In the other senior game on Wednesday, Brennan Mitchell had 17 points at St. Mary’s beat White Pines 66-38.

Bishop Whitmell of White Pines led all scorers in the game with 18 points.

In junior action on Wednesday, Michael Nicoletta had 30 points as Korah beat Superior Heights 68-36.

Shane Headrick had 14 points for Superior Heights.

Wednesday’s other junior game saw White Pines beat St. Mary’s 49-36.

High scorers for the game were not reported.

This weekend will see action in the annual Eric Nystedt Memorial tournament at both the junior and senior levels.

With 14 teams slated to compete, action begins on Friday at Superior Heights.
