Central Algoma Secondary School entered the holiday break with their annual celebration of sports alumni.
The annual CASS Alumni Day event, which is very popular among current and former students, saw past and present members of the CASS Huskies battle in basketball, hockey and volleyball over a two-day span.
In the hockey game, the Alumni defeated the Huskies 8-6 at the Desbarats Arena.
Scoring for the Alumni were John Wells, Brian Collings, Dexter Mathieu, David Tulloch, Tim Junor, Paul Adams, Jeff Seabrook and Danny Siemers. Travis Seabrook and Matt Valiquette led the Huskies with two goals each while singles went to Craig MacDonald and Billy Evoy.
In girls basketball, the Alumni defeated the senior Huskies 34-18. Linda Brohart with 11 points and Heather Riddell with eight led the Alumni while Ashton Ramsey led the Huskies with nine.
Other Alumni included Elissa Tuomi, Hannah McRae, Jen Cronin, Amy Stewart, Christi Hoover and Deb Robinson.
Greg Rowlinson hit a three point shot with 10 seconds remaining to lift the CASS seniors to a 51-48 win over the Alumni in boys basketball. Rowlinson led the Huskies with 18 points while Andrew Miron added 12.
Lucas Cronin with 15 points, Brad Entwistle with 11 and Curtis Gudrie with nine led the Alumni, which included Pat Giunti, Wells, Neil Kellar, Boyd Seabrook, Scott Trivers, Jason Stewart, Aaron Gowlett and Neil Brockelbank.
Also participating were a pair of graduates from 1978 in Cameron Ross and Lorne "Spanky" Robinson.
In girls volleyball, the senior Huskies defeated the Alumni 25-22, 20-25 and 15-11.
*** IN GOOD STANDING:
All three teams from CASS are enjoying solid seasons in the North Shore league as each enter the holiday break with only one loss in boys basketball. The senior and junior huskies sit at 5-1 while the midgets hold a 4-1 record.
